Travel to Squamish
Squamish is located on Howe Sound, in the Southwest corner of British Columbia. It is approximately 30 miles North of Vancouver; about halfway between Vancouver and the resort city of Whistler.
Most attendees will fly into Vancouver International Airport. The slow, but scenic drive from the Vancouver airport takes approximately 75 minutes. Rental cars are available at the airport. There is also rail service, bus service, and limo/van service available from Vancouver.
Attendees may opt to fly to Seattle, but the drive to Squamish would be substantial. There is a small airport in Squamish as well, and taxis are available.
For additional travel information, see the Sea to Sky Hotel website.
The conference hotel is the Best Western Sea to Sky Hotel(40330 Tantulus Way, PO Box 310, Garibaldi Highlands, B.C. V0N 1T0), about 3 km North of the center of Squamish. The hotel has arestaurant, fitness room, sauna, jacuzzi, and there are several dining choices nearby.
We have reserved the entire hotel, which includes a substantial number of standard rooms with 2 extra long double beds, as well as several suites. In order to better plan for the number of rooms, it would help greatly if those wishing to attend would send an email indicating the probable number of people, nights and rooms/suites needed. Email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Attendees should make their own reservations directly by calling 1-800-531-1530 or 1-604-898-4874, or faxing 1-604-898-3692. Tell them you are attending ASIC to receive the conference rates.
If there is additional demand for rooms, or if families with children would like a waterslide and pool, the Squamish Super 8 Motel is about halfway between the Sea to Sky Motel and town. Rates are about Canadien $10 higher than those at the Sea to Sky, but may be lowered later. The reservations number for the Super 8 is 1-800-800-8000, local number is 1-604-815-0883; Fax: 1-604-815-0884.
There is also inexpensive lodging in the area, including camping or at the Squamish Hostel. For more information see www.squamishrock.com.
