Professors Colin Allen and Katy Börner Win Grant to Explore 'Big Data'
A team of researchers, including principal investigators Professors Colin Allen and Katy Börner, have won a grant to "demonstrate how large-scale data repositories with millions of books can change the nature of research for the humanities and social sciences. Their 'Digging by Debating' project combines the power of 'scientometrics' with the interpretative strategies of the humanities to tackle the particularly challenging issue of understanding the boundary between science and philosophy." Visiting Undergraduate Research Applications Available
The IU Cognitive Science Program invites upper-level undergraduate students not enrolled at IU Bloomington and students who are graduating from colleges other than IU Bloomington to apply to the Cognitive Science Visiting Undergraduate Program.
Professor Katy Börner Receives Fellow Distinction from AAAS
Victor H. Yngve Professor of Information Science, School of Library and Information Science, Professor Katy Börner, has been awarded the distinction of Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science "[f]or pioneering work on network science infrastructure development, the scientific analysis, modeling, and visualization of science itself, and curatorship of the international 'Places & Spaces: Mapping Science' exhibit." Ph.D. Program Application for Fall 2012
The Cognitive Science Program is currently accepting applications for the Ph.D. program for 2012 fall matriculation. Information about the application procedure is available at Admission to the Cognitive Science Ph.D. Program. Deadline for international applicants is 12/01/11. Deadline for domestic applications is 01/15/12. Deadline to apply for the IGERT Traineeship is 12/31/2011.

The Indiana University Cognitive Science Program is home to the NSF IGERT doctoral training program in the dynamics of brain-body-environment systems in behavior and cognition. Trainees receive extensive support and funding for their doctoral studies at IU.
