Advising Services
The undergraduate advisor assists students with course selection and academic planning, interprets College of Arts and Sciences policies and cognitive science degree requirements, and serves as a referral source to on-and off-campus resources.

Graduate School Preparation
Students who are considering attending graduate school should become informed about why they wish to pursue post-baccalaureate studies, finding a school/program of interest, the application process, and how to successfully complete the process. Suggestions are listed here and students are also encouraged to set up an appointment to speak with the advisor.

Academic Resources On Campus

  • OneStart is the Indiana Student Information Transaction Environment, a web-based service for Indiana University students that provides secure access to personal student information. Access to information is protected by Student-ID number (SIDN) and PIN. Students can obtain online advising (called a degree progress report), view transcripts and grade reports, change their address and/or pin number, view their bursar statement or financial aid information, and browse course offerings.

  • The College of Arts and Sciences Recorder's Office maintains records for all students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The office is located in Kirkwood Hall Room 001, phone 812-855-1821. Students can obtain necessary forms like applications for graduation, late add/drop forms, etc. from this office as well as inquire about COAS policies and procedures related to their personal academic record.

  • The Student Academic Center provides a variety of academic support services for Indiana University students: peer tutoring services, individualized academic assessment, workshops including a series called College and Life Long Learning, courses for credit, and supplemental instruction.

  • The Writing Tutorial Services office provides individual tutoring to students working on writing projects for any of their courses. WTS (pronounced "wits") offers free help to writers in any phase of the writing process--from brainstorming to outlining, revising to polishing the final draft.
